Born Adam Douglas Hill to an Aboriginal Father & Caucasian (Australian) Mother, Bungarrabee

(‘Blacktown’- Dharug Country) New South Wales, 1970.

Working across a variety of mediums including Graphic Design, illustration, music, painting,

photography, public art and sculpture.

Blak Douglas won the Kilgour Prize 2019, the STILL Award 2020 and the Archibald Prize 2022.

Blak Douglas is also formally trained Yidaki player having performed nationally and internationally

accompanying the likes of Albert David, Bangarra, Matthew Doyle Dancers, Casey Donovan,

Christine Anu, Gondwanna Voices, Paul Jarman, Jessica Mauboy, Jenny Morris, Jane Rutter,

Musica Viva, NAISDA and Peter Sculthorpe. Major events have included Australian Idol, The

Deadlys, The Rugby World Cup opening ceremony, as well as the Sydney 2000 welcome for

Madiba Nelson - Rolihlahla Mandela.
