Asher Milgate
Asher Milgate is an Australian photographer and artist working across analogue photography, material intervention and installation. Through tearing and machine-sewing photographic prints, he transforms the photograph into a physical object shaped by repetition, disruption and human intervention. His work considers landscape through memory, labour and inherited ways of seeing, drawing from long-term relationships to regional Australia and environmental experience.
Milgate has exhibited nationally and internationally, including the Auckland Festival of Photography. His work has been commissioned through Orange Regional Museum, Glasshouse Regional Gallery and Western Plains Cultural Centre and recognised through finalist exhibitions including the Incinerator Art Award, Fisher's Ghost Art Award, Lane Cove Art Award and the Northern Beaches Environmental Art & Design Prize.
Asher Milgate has exhibited in multiple solo and group shows in Sydney, Newcastle and regional NSW including his solo exhibition ‘Duality’ at Glasshouse Gallery, Port Macquarie and at Adelaide Perry Gallery in Sydney in 2020, Western Plain Cultural Centre, Dubbo in 2015, Sydney Harbour Bridge Portraits Projection on New Year’s Eve Celebration 2021, Delmar Gallery, Trinity Grammar School in 2021. He had received numerous awards and his work is in the collection of Orange Regional Gallery.
