This encounter became a catalyst for a series of paintings exploring historical echoes and colonial trauma within its landscapes. This ancient land of the Big River Nation serves as a haunting mise en scene, where the disconnected emergency red telephone phone and floating EXIT sign prompt feelings of ambivalence and hopelessness.”
