At dusk, mist fills the forest floor as night turns the sky to an inky blue. Shapes and shadows emerge from tangled branches and leaves in the low light. This work represents the feeling of walking through a mist-filled forest after rain, as if in a memory or a dream. The intricately carved textures and delicately layered colours echo the feeling of a moment’s stillness, inviting the viewer to get lost inside the mist and clear their mind in a cathartic hypnosis. As in life, one finds themselves searching for form and meaning, yet peace is found instead in the abstraction of nature. The natural world becomes both teacher and muse, offering guidance not only for artistic practice, but for understanding one’s inner self.
