Earth Myth I explores the traces civilisations leave behind - stories, symbols, and fragments that intertwine and resurface across time. The layered textures of this woodblock print evoke the sense of the ancient being unearthed, like sediment or eroded ruins, while its abstraction lends it a contemporary presence. Created during an artist residency in Kavala, a coastal town in northern Greece where layers of ancient and modern life collide along the shifting edge of Aegean Sea, the work reflects the forces of erosion and renewal. A place where the myths of the past and present can be clearly seen; marks left behind by both human and nature. Through textured surfaces and contemplative forms, Earth Myth reflects on how stories, creations, and the mundane moments of everyday life weave together a complex tapestry of the human experience. Our lives, like the cities we build and the stories we inherit, are myths in themselves.
