Created during an artist residency in Milan, this work is an abstract reflection on the town of Lugano, its serene lake, cradled by snow-capped mountains that echo both peace and history. The spirit of Hermann Hesse, who once lived nearby, seems to linger in the valley and his meditations on humanity resonate deeply with me. After visiting his resting place, I expressed my own contemplations on landscape, memory, and human nature through this work. The atmospheric and layered forms in this woodblock print evoke a quiet tension between life and death, presence and absence, and the shadows of existence.
