“The Summer Palace is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in Beijing. It was an imperial garden in the Qing dynasty. Chinese buildings (tower, pavilion, temple, and courtyard) represent the development of regional culture, historical memory, and architectural narratives. Under the influence of Confucianism they are important architectural forms that convey Chinese culture. My paintings depict sceneries of bittersweet memories of the past and uncertain outlooks of the future.”
