Huihai Xie

Born in Shanghai, Huihai Xie is an award-winning artist and experienced painting teacher. His professional achievements include winning the traditional section of the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award at Campbelltown City Bicentennial Art Gallery in 2002. His painting “Out of the darkness”won a Mary Mackillop Art Prize at the National Portrait Gallery and the People’s Choice Prize in Sydney, Adelaide, and Canberra. Xie was also selected as a Art Gallery of NSW Archibald Prize finalist in 2003 and 2006, a finalist in the Art Gallery of NSW Sporting Portrait Prize in 2000, a finalist in the NSW State Library’s Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 1998 and 2000 and a finalist in the National Gallery of Victoria’s Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 1994 and 1996
