Dennis Wilson
I am an artist based in Sydney and the Blue Mountains. I have been painting and sculpting for over four decades, having studied at the National Art School, Tom Bass Sculpture School, Julian Ashton Art School and with Stephen Kaldor, artist Sydney.
The progression was a long one. Learning the fundamental rules and then departing from them, asking the work to evoke a feeling or emotion through colour rather than through the representation of subject, was important for me.
Colour is the common denominator of everything. In one sense my work is not subjectively representative of anything. In another sense, and through colour, my work is representative of everything. Colour is the universal aspect of the visible world. It evokes a response.
Therefore, if my works are seen as gestural or abstract expressionist, I would not argue with that kind of description.
I am particularly supportive of exhibiting in country areas. I have shown my work in Crookwell and Warren and I am in private collections.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work– the Gadigal/Bidjigal people of the Eora Nation. We pay respects to their elders past, present and emerging.
