David Holm

David is an architect, author, and artist born on Kamilaroi and living on Deerubbin.

His artwork focuses on two themes. Firstly, minimalist line drawings articulating built and urban form assembled from travel observations over 40 years. Secondly and more recently watercolor and acrylic abstract interpretations of landscapes especially in Australia.

His drawings and artworks have been exhibited and commended at professional and gallery venues throughout Australia.

He has lectured on aspects of urbanity, public place, transport design and drawing worldwide over the last 25 years. He is passionate about drawing and has published two books, “Drawing Italy” and “Drawing Paris” regularly running drawing masterclasses. His sketch books have been acquired by the State Library of New South Wales.

As a director of COX Architecture David’s architectural focus is at the nexus of urban infrastructure, transport connections and public placemaking in the city. This is evident through key projects such as Western Sydney International Airport, Victoria Cross Station North Sydney, Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 3, Parramatta Light Rail, New Delhi International Airport Terminal 3, Sydney International Airport’s “Forum” and “Marketplace”, the Barangaroo Ferry Hub and the West Metro Sydney.

David is a recipient of the NSW Board of Architects Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship and a Churchill Fellow.

He is a former NSW Chapter Councillor of the Australian Institute of Architects and a New South Wales Board of Architects Registration Examiner. He was made an Adjunct Professor of the Faculty of Design Architecture & Building at the University of Technology Sydney in 2015.
